Rico is 13 years-old and loves school, sports, outside activities, and his friends and family. He was recently diagnosed with acute t-cell lymphocytic leukemia, and has been receiving chemotherapy to fight this disease. Rico is looking forward to the day when he can return to the things he loves most, but first, he will need a blood stem cell/marrow transplant.
Unfortunately, he doesn’t have a matching donor yet. Rico is multi-ethnic and he will most likely match with someone who shares the same ethnic background. “Some people… had cancer themselves and they’re positive… So, if they’re positive then that means I can be positive,” Rico said. “They got through it. That means I can get through it.”
