BECOME A DONOR

Black History Month

february 5, 2025

Swab The World

In February, we celebrate Black History Month to highlight “the importance of recognizing their contribution to collective memory, while working for better representation in society.”

We recognize the discrimination that the black community has historically experienced in the medical industry. Even in our niche field of blood cancers and diseases, only 1.6% of registered stem cell donors in Canada are black. This means that black patients have a much more difficult time finding a live-saving compatible stem cell donor.

We are committed to our mission to fight for a more diverse stem cell registry 💪!

To highlight Black History Month, we have several Swab Drives planned to support the Black community. Come see us and sign up to potentially save a life!

  • Thursday, February 6th: Swab Drive with the Forum Jeunesse Afro-Québécois (Located at the Musée de la civilisation de Québec, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.).

  • Friday, February 14th: Swab Drive at the Black Beauty Day, with the Black Students’ Network (Located at McGill University from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.).

  • Tuesday, February 25th: Swab Drive with the Association des Étudiant·e·s Africain·e·s de l’UQAM (Located at UQAM from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.).

We're counting on you.
