Aggressive leukemia needs transplant
This is Shanna, a vibrant young woman diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Shanna plays 4 instruments, speaks multiple languages and loves dancing, eating and poetry. Her friends call her: Shan CAN.
Although Shanna is currently in remission, the last almost 2 years have not been easy – receiving aggressive cancer treatment in complete isolation.
On social media, Shanna shares her journey, supporting other cancer patients like her, and searching for the compatible stem cell donor she urgently needs to be completely cured.
But as an African and Hungarian woman, Shanna faces yet another obstacle.
Only 8% of registered donors in Canada are multi-ethnic. This means that multi-ethnic patients have a much harder time finding a compatible stem cell donor.
The good news is that YOU could be Shanna’s perfect match.
If given a second chance, Shanna dreams of completing her degree in Computer Science, helping others and, one day, being a mom.
Shanna asks you to “please be a superhero, please give the gift of life so that Shan CAN and other transplant recipients CAN too.”
